MIMI REILLY MEMORIAM

Star Booty was St. Pete’s first punk rock hair salon and Mimi played a huge role in the formation of the art and music scene downtown. She provided a safe space for derelict punks, lgbtq+ poly, and others to come hang out. She also provided a space for local bands to play in her salon. Mimi mentored me and pushed me to work for myself in a non-traditional salon environment.

When I was a teenager, I started going to shows and that’s been a big part of my life still. Mimi taught me that world, and my work world could co exist. She taught me the importance of being kind to people and being authentic despite how that makes anyone feel. She empowered me to be in a work environment I actually enjoy and stand behind and that’s ALL MINE! She was more than just a mentor to me, and was a close friend. Her kindness touched a lot of people and she is greatly missed

Thanks to the inspiration and skills I’ve gained from Mimi, I have created something unique of my own. I strive to provide a safe space for anyone that sits in my chair to look the way that they feel. I specialize in vivid color, blonding, sick razor cuts, shags and mullets, alternative looks and anything in between.
